RECAP: Horseheads Silences Previously Unbeaten Genesee, 7-1

Horseheads, NY - The Horseheads Hitmen put together a dominant offensive performance and a complete game on the mound to secure a 7–1 victory over the previously unbeaten Genesee Rapids on Saturday afternoon.

Right-hander Daniel Lewis was masterful, tossing a complete-game three-hitter while allowing just one unearned run, walking one, and striking out four across nine innings of work. He threw 120 pitches and faced just two over the minimum in a highly efficient outing.

At the plate, the Hitmen pounded out 14 hits, led by Alex Davis, who went 4-for-5 with three RBIs, including a double and two stolen bases. Jack Mathis also had a strong day, finishing 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a walk, while Max Underhill chipped in with a two-run single in the fourth inning.

Horseheads jumped out early, scoring twice in the second, adding three more in the fourth, and never looking back. They tacked on insurance runs in the sixth and ninth. Five different players recorded stolen bases, helping to keep pressure on the Rapids defense, which committed one error.

Genesee’s lone run came in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Rene Vega III, but the Rapids’ bats were quiet overall, managing just three hits and stranding five runners.

The loss was the first of the season for Genesee (5–1), while Horseheads improved to 3–4.
