Horseheads, NY – The Horseheads Hitmen stormed out of the gates with an explosive eight-run first inning and never looked back, cruising to a 10–3 victory over the Dansville Gliders in their 2025 home opener.
🔹 First Inning Onslaught
The Hitmen sent 12 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first, tallying eight runs on five hits, including RBI knocks from Jack Mathis (2 RBI), Frank Vogel (2 RBI), and Kota Itoh (2 RBI). Dansville’s starter, Chase Donahue, lasted just one inning, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on five hits.
🔹 Strong Supporting Cast
Frank Vogel and Jack Mathis each collected two hits and two RBIs.
Logan Deloach, Hemi Humphries, and Mason Cook also drove in runs to round out the scoring.
Horseheads finished with 13 hits overall, led by Kazuto Matsuda and Howard Bachus Jr., who added two hits apiece.
🔹 Gliders Show Some Life
Dansville chipped away with single runs in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings, powered by RBIs from Ryan DeMartino, Justin Colpack, and Kade Keown. Colpack was a bright spot, going 3-for-5 as the designated hitter, while Caden Roy and Jeremy Aylward added two hits each.
🔹 Pitching Highlights
Daniel Lewis earned the win for Horseheads, tossing six strong innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four.
Dom Tizzano pitched the final three innings in relief, allowing one run on six hits with four strikeouts to secure the win.
Despite the loss, Dansville’s bullpen settled in after the first frame, particularly Blake Butt, who threw three shutout innings with four strikeouts.
