Horseheads, NY – The Horseheads Hitmen are thrilled to announce the recent signings of four exceptional players: Matt Procopio, a standout SS/UTL player from Niagara County Community College, Wiljer Casana, a stellar 3B from the Borough of Manhattan Community College, Angel Diaz, a highly ranked RHP from Arizona, and Jackson Hubbard, an impressive RHP from Monroe Community College.
Matt Procopio returns for his second season with the Hitmen, bringing with him an impressive track record from Niagara County Community College. In 2024, Procopio hit an outstanding .350 with 3 home runs and 13 stolen bases. His exceptional performance in 2023 earned him second team all-region and all-conference honors. Additionally, Procopio received all-tournament honors at both the NJCAA World Series and Region 3 Championships in 2023. Last season with the Hitmen, he was selected for the NACSB Prospect Games, showcasing his talent on a broader stage.
Wiljer Casana, a Miami, Florida native, joins the Hitmen as a third baseman from the Borough of Manhattan Community College. Casana had a remarkable season, hitting .303 with 1 home run and 14 stolen bases. His defensive prowess earned him a spot on the Region XV Gold Glove team, solidifying his reputation as a reliable and skilled infielder.
Jackson Hubbard, a right-handed pitcher from Monroe Community College, demonstrated his pitching skills over 31 innings with 34 strikeouts in 8 appearances. The Sayre, PA native maintained a 4-3 record this past spring, showcasing his ability to compete at a high level and his potential to make a significant impact on the mound for the Hitmen.
Angel Diaz, another right-handed pitcher, brings his talents all the way from Arizona to Horseheads, NY. Ranked as the 50th best RHP by Perfect Game, Diaz stands at an imposing 6’3” and is poised to be a key addition to the Hitmen’s pitching staff. His ranking and physical presence on the mound promise exciting performances and solid contributions to the team's success.
